What Your Retreat Includes

Six Components, One Experience

Consultation With the Vaidya

Your retreat is charted from your Vaidya's diagnosis on arrival. Your package guarantees the number and duration of treatments you've paid for — which ones you receive is confirmed by your diagnosis.

Ayurveda Food

Ayurveda advises specific food to improve health — suited to each body type and imbalance. Completely vegetarian, cooked with the necessary spices to classical Ayurvedic recipes, by cooks with years of experience.

Massage Therapies

Using either cooked sesame oil infused with herbs, or dried herbal powders — every component is customized by the Vaidya to your precise needs and executed by trained and experienced massage therapists, per the ayurveda Vaidya's instructions. Advised daily for a minimum of 7 days for full effect, which is why both programs here run at least that length.

Yoga & Meditation

Daily sessions, beginner-friendly — even if you've never done yoga before, our instructor will make sure you enjoy the experience.

Ayurvedic Cooking Class

Ayurveda holds that "food is medicine." A live session with our experienced cooks and Vaidya. Carolin introduces you to Ayurvedic cooking and the use of spices.

The Stay

A well-furnished, official three-star hotel in San Esteban de Pravia, Asturias — warmth, cleanliness, comfortable beds, herbal teas, and relaxing views on the banks of a calm river flowing into the Cantabrian Sea.

The Hotel

Real Kerala, In Miniature

Ten rooms. Intimate and authentic. Nested in a picturesque Spanish town.

Styled in the spirit of a real Kerala home rather than a resort — traditional textiles and details, on the banks of the Río Nalón where it meets the Cantabrian Sea. Fewer guests means personalized and real attention, not a rotation. The hotel holds an official three-star rating, chosen for warmth, cleanliness, and comfort rather than resort scale.

Understanding Your Program

The Philosophy Behind the Plan

What Is Ayurveda

The classical medical system that originated in India, in continuous use for more than 5,000 years — using herbal medicine, massage therapy, diet guidance, and cleansing therapy (Panchakarma) to treat and prevent illness, aiming to cure without side effects. Its hallmark is personalization: two guests with the same apparent imbalance may still need different treatment to correct it — which is why every program here starts with a diagnosis, not a checklist.

What Is Panchakarma — Five Actions, Three Stages

Not a spa treatment but a supervised medical process, done in three stages:

1

Preparation (Poorvakarma)

Getting the body ready for the cleanse is essential. Internal oleation, oil and sweating therapies, and herbal preparations loosen deep-seated toxins.

2

Elimination (Pradhanakarma)

The 5 cleanses are Vamana (therapeutic emesis), Virechana (therapeutic purgation), Basti (enema), Nasya (nasal cleanse), and Raktamokshana (bloodletting) — only medically prescribed according to your health circumstances.

3

Rejuvenation (Paschatkarma)

Last, but not least, the recovery. Herbs, diet, and rest rebuild strength and stabilize the results.

How Diagnosis Decides Your Plan

Your retreat is charted from your first consultation, on arrival. Your package guarantees the number and duration of treatments you've paid for — what changes, based on your Vaidya's diagnosis, is which treatments you receive and how they're adapted to you. They'll also advise on the food and herbal teas served during your stay.

Cudillero, Asturias
Cudillero, Asturias
Why Asturias — Spain's Natural Paradise

Not Mallorca, Not Kerala, Not Germany

Cooler air, green hills, Spanish town culture, a quiet river estuary — not August heat and beach crowds. The same Kerala tradition, without the long-haul flight to India.

More Reasons to Choose the North Coast

Picos de Europa mountains

Climate & Nature

Asturias is officially branded "Paraíso Natural" (Natural Paradise) — green hills, the Picos de Europa mountains nearby, and a noticeably cooler, milder August than the Mediterranean coast. Better conditions for rest and recovery than a hot beach resort.

Santa María del Naranco, Oviedo pre-Romanesque architecture

Heritage & Culture

Home to Oviedo's UNESCO-listed pre-Romanesque architecture, the historic Camino de Santiago pilgrim route running through the region, and the charming fishing village of Cudillero close by.

Mirador del Fitu, Asturias coastal landscape

Slower, Less Touristy

Asturias sees a fraction of the mass tourism of Mallorca or the Costa Brava — a quieter, more authentic setting matched to what a real recovery program needs.

Where You'll Stay

A quiet former coal port turned into a peaceful river village on the Nalón estuary — local gastronomy, fishing boats, seafront promenades, and a walk to wild beaches and impressive coastal cliffs. Close by to the town of Muros de Nalón, part of the Camino de Santiago.

Approximate time by car: Asturias Airport ~10 min · Avilés ~18 min · Oviedo and Gijón ~35 min
